We are looking for a talented Coffee Roaster with a Q Grading certification, solid experience in quality assurance, and a comprehensive understanding of sample roasting, green coffee evaluation, and coffee buying. The ideal candidate will bring a vibrant spark of energy and enthusiasm to our team, playing a crucial role in producing exceptional coffee and advancing our roasting processes and quality standards.

Responsibilities

• Manage daily coffee roasting operations, ensuring adherence to our stringent quality standards.
• Lead quality assurance initiatives, keeping detailed records of roast profiles, adjustments, and results.
• Conduct sample roasting for green coffee evaluation, collaborating with our sourcing team to identify the best beans from online auctions and other sources.
• Work with the coffee buying team to select green coffee based on quality, flavour profiles, and environmental sustainability.
• Organise and lead cupping sessions to assess coffee quality, pinpointing areas for improvement and innovation.
• Develop and refine roast profiles to highlight the distinct qualities of each coffee variety.
• Provide training and mentorship to team members in roasting techniques, quality assessment, and safety protocols.
• Stay informed of industry trends, new technologies, and best practices in coffee roasting and sourcing.

Qualifications

• Proven track record as a coffee roaster, with a strong background in quality assurance within the coffee industry.
• Must hold a Q Grading certification.
• Deep knowledge of coffee roasting equipment, maintenance, and safety standards.
• Skilled in green coffee evaluation, sample roasting, and the coffee buying process.
• Excellent sensory skills for cupping and quality assessment.
• Ability to work well in a team environment and adapt to a fast-paced setting.
• Detail-oriented with strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
• A genuine passion for coffee, with a continuous desire to learn and innovate.
• Outstanding communication and leadership skills.
